Tuburan Tamse, from the Tausug ethnic group, was only 17-years-old when he competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Being the first Muslim Filipino Olympian.
Aged 17, he was sent to participate in the Amsterdam Olympics under the Swimming event, together with fellow Filipino athletes Teofilo Yldefonso (swimming), Anselmo Gonzaga (athletics) and Simeon Toribio (athletics).
He competed in the 400m freestyle, finishing at 5 min and 39 4/5 secs, and the 1,500m freestyle, finishing at 20 min and 17.
