Hedy Garcia was a swimmer who competed in four events at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. She was discovered in 1965 when she placed second in the long distance competition that involved crossing the Laguna Lake–a distance of about 18 kilometers.
The 15-year-old girl timed in at 5 hours, 40 minutes and 8 seconds, way ahead of former Olympians Bana Sailani, who failed to finish. In the Mexico Olympics, she placed 7th in Heat 4 of the 100 m Freestyle; 4th in Heat 1 of the 200 m Breaststroke; 3rd in Heat 3 of the 200 m Individual Medley, and 7th in Heat 4 of the 400 m Individual Medley.
